Hitachi Energy, formerly known as Hitachi ABB Power Grids, announced the launch of EconiQ transformers, strengthening its mission: "Promoting a sustainable energy future for all."

Transformers are essential to achieve efficient and safe power flow by adjusting voltage levels. From power generation to final consumption, power passes through four to five transformers on average; in this process, it is estimated that transformers consume nearly 5% of the world's power generation as heat loss.

EconiQ transformers have additional environmental value in areas such as decarbonization, enhancement of human safety, protection of the ecosystem, and responsible use of resources throughout the life cycle of the transformer. For example, one of the EconiQ transformers-115/21 kilovolts (KV), 40 megavolt-amperes (MVA)-is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 23% over the entire life cycle, while also reducing eutrophication and water toxicity Reduce by about 15%. In rare cases of mineral oil spills, it will also eliminate the associated environmental impact.

Hitachi Energy's EconiQ transformer is based on co-creation. Transformers will be customized according to the sustainability requirements of specific customers and using proven scientific methods (such as environmental life cycle analysis).

Transformers are manufactured using fossil-free electricity in Hitachi Energy's factories.
